When to book cheap flights from Pakistan
Last reviewed 16 October 2026. General guidance: fares depend on demand, so every route is a little different.
How far ahead should I book?
- Domestic flights (Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and others): about 2 to 4 weeks ahead. Fares often rise sharply in the last few days.
- Gulf and Saudi Arabia: about 3 to 8 weeks ahead for normal dates.
- UK, Europe, USA and Canada: about 2 to 4 months ahead.
- Busy seasons (Eid, Ramadan, summer holidays, Christmas and New Year): 3 to 6 months ahead. Cheap seats sell first.
Is there a cheapest day to fly?
The day you fly matters much more than the day you book. Midweek flights, often Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, are frequently cheaper than Friday and Sunday, but it varies by route. Use the price calendar on any route page to see which days are cheapest for your trip.
Is it cheaper to book at the airport?
Usually not. Airport counters sell at the airline's normal price, and the cheapest seats are often gone by the day of travel. Booking online or with the airline in advance is almost always cheaper.
Is a travel agent cheaper?
Sometimes, for Umrah groups or worker fares to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, agents have special fares. For most trips, compare online prices first so you know what a fair price is.
Return ticket or two one-way tickets?
On long-haul routes such as the UK and North America, a return is often cheaper. To the Gulf and Saudi Arabia, two one-way tickets are often similar in price and let you mix airlines and airports. Compare both.
Are last-minute flights cheaper?
Rarely. Last-minute fares are usually the most expensive, especially on busy routes. If you must travel soon, compare nearby airports, such as Sharjah instead of Dubai, and connecting flights.
